“Forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair.” Kahlil Gibran
Mindfulness invites you to focus on the present moment, through your senses, with nonjudgmental evaluation of your present experiences. You become aware of senses, feelings, thoughts, and the environment.
Mindfulness allows you to observe and simultaneously distance yourself from thoughts and feelings without labeling them as good or bad. By observing the experience, you stop over-identifying with it and learn how to let your thoughts go.
Mindfulness helps you remain in the present without being consumed by painful thoughts and emotions about past experiences or future worries. You will develop decreased reactivity, increased decision-making clarity, deeper enjoyment and satisfaction of ordinary living, and understanding of challenging circumstances. Mindfulness-based therapies have been proven to be effective for anxiety, depression, anger, pain management, guilt, and shame. They are also helpful for certain eating disorders.
